ORDINARY OF THE MASS

He kisses the altar, the stone of which always encloses relics of holy martyrs :
WE beseech Thee, O Lord, by the merits of Thy saints, whose relics are here, and of all the
saints, that Thou wouldst vouchsafe to forgive my sins. Amen.

At High Mass the priest incenses the crucifix and the altar. Then the deacon, taking the thurible
from the celebrant, incenses him alone.

The priest blesses the incense, saying :
BE thou blessed by Him, in Whose honor thou
art about to burn. Amen.


1. INTROIT.
At the right side of the altar the priest says the Introit. (See the mass of the day).

Kyrie.
The priest returns to the middle of the altar and says , alternately with the server :

LORD, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
Lord have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

Standing at the middle of the altar, extending and then joining his hands, and bowing
slightly, the priest says

Gloria.
GLORY to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men of good will. We praise Thee, we bless
Thee, we adore Thee, we glorify Thee. We give Thee
thanks for Thy great glory. O Lord God, heavenly
