ORDINARY OF THE MASS
life to the world : deliver me by this, Thy most holy Body and Blood from all my
iniquities and
from all evils; and make me always adhere to Thy commandments and never suffer
me to be separated
from Thee : Who with the same God the Father and the Holy Ghost, livest and
reignest, God, for
ever and ever. Amen.
LET not the partaking of Thy Body, O Lord Jesus Christ, which I, unworthy,
presume to receive,
turn to my judgment and condemnation : but through Thy goodness may it avail me
for a
safeguard and a remedy of body and soul : Who livest and reignest with God the
Father in the
unity of the Holy Ghost, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
4. COMMUNION OF THE PRIEST.
The priest genuflects, and taking the Sacred Host with his fingers, he says :
I WILL take the bread
of heaven, and call upon the Name of the Lord.
Striking his breast, he repeats three times the words of humble
confidence uttered by the
centurion in the Gospel.
LORD, I am not worthy that Thou shouldst enter under my roof; say but the word
and my soul
shall be healed.
The priest takes the Sacred Host.
MAY the Body of our
Lord Jesus Christ preserve my soul to life everlasting. Amen.
He gives thanks, saying :
WHAT shall I render to
the Lord for all the things He hath rendered to me? I will take the chalice
of salvation, and I will call upon the Name of the Lord. Praising, I will call
upon the Lord, and I
shall be saved from my enemies.
